Famous Thinkers Paper: Bill Gates and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. PHL/458 Mr. McDuffie October 2, 2012 While exploring history and trying to realize the famous thinkers of our society, countless men and women stand out. Famous thinkers are individuals who used determination and critical thinking to overcome hard times in order to do well. The two famous thinkers that thrust out in my mind are Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and Bill Gates. In this paper I will discuss their contributions to society, the problems or issues that they fixed, and how they were able to come up with their solutions. Contributions to Society In 1955 a young entrepreneur and a†¦show more content†¦He knew that the success in Montgomery Alabama called for the mass movement of men to help raise awareness about racial inequality (Martin Luther King Jr., 2011). Implementation of the Solution Bill Gates established a number of different programs for a huge number of establishments. â€Å"Microsoft was born when Bill was looking at a MITS Altair 8800 computer in 1974 (Bill Gates, 2011)†. He contacted MITS to inquire if they would be interested in him developing programs for their company. It was quite some time before MITS agreed to Bill’s offer, but he began developing software programming right away and then Microsoft was generated. Other large companies such as IBM (in 1980) would come to him for software development (Bill Gates, 2011). Nothing like Bill, Dr. King’s solution was straightforward; he stood up and protested in a non-violent method for the privileges of his societies. After the Montgomery Alabama bus lines accomplishment for the desegregation, Dr. King created the Southern Christian Leadership Meeting. Dr. King and his devotees traveled around the nation and lectured with civil leaders, formed marches and also protests. His leadership would help his fellow men and women of color stand up for what they believed in (Martin Luther King Jr., 2011).
